Research Day 2011 - Tuesday 25 October

Research Day is held each year on the last Tuesday in October to celebrate the achievements of research students. The aim of Research Day is to focus on research students and research training support. Research Day is open to all academics, research associates, research students and staff supporting research.

Presentations are given by postgraduate research students in the morning and it is a great opportunity to gain an appreciation of the diversity of research being conducted on this campus. Each presenter is limited to ten minutes, and is required to address a general audience, which is always a challenge for people working in highly specialised fields. Cash prizes (1st - $800; 2nd - $500; 3rd - $300) will be awarded for the best research presentations. Any PGR students interested in presenting should contact their School PGR Coordinator.

There is also a Poster Competition and students are encouraged to take part as single entrants or as a group. The poster competition attracts cash prizes of $500, $300 and $200 for the best research student posters displayed on the day as selected by a panel of judges. Also this year the UNSW Canberra student life organisation Arc will sponsor a popular vote for the best student posters displayed with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

The afternoon program consists of information sessions for research students. These informative sessions are of major interest to postgraduate research students and all students are encouraged to attend.
